VOTE NO
The Brookhaven Term Limit Proposition on Tuesday's ballot will hurt Medford.
Discovered today in the latest release of the OTB Meeting Minutes for July 26, 2018 was the following:
“Vice President Pancella stated that we have Ron Parr consulting with us regarding building permits from the Town of Brookhaven and Suffolk County for the Medford property. The permits would allow us the opportunity to move to that location should we need more space with the possibilities of getting additional VLT machines. We have paid off the property in full, 10.9 million dollars.”
OTB is once again coming after Medford.
The proposition on the ballot will extend each town board term to four years. If OTB’s changes are voted on in year one of a four year term, Medford will be left with no recourse among our elected officials. If held to the current two year term, what Medford says will matter to two Councilmen and the Supervisor, knowing that they will be held accountable within a year of their vote.
Don’t be confused with what will happen with the Medford site when compared to Islandia. In Islandia, OTB rents from Delaware North and Delaware North then pays high taxes to the village. In Medford that was never the plan. As Vice President Pancella noted they OWN the property. Governmental entities DO NOT PAY TAXES. Medford and Brookhaven will be left to handle this burden.
VOTE NO TO MAINTAIN THE CURRENT ACCOUNTABILITY OF THE TOWN COUNCIL TO THE PEOPLE

Meeting Update
August 20, 2016
Hopefully everyone continues to enjoy what is left of summer. To help in that effort, we are not having a civic meeting this month - we will resume meetings in September. I am sure you have all been watching Islandia casino issue to insure they do not return to Medford. The Islandia Village Board voted to approve Delaware-North's special use permit and the Civics surrounding Islandia have hired Paul Sabatino as their lawyer. Paul Sabatino use to be the lawyer to the Suffolk County Legislature - he will be a formidable opponent to the Village, OTB and Delaware-North!!!
